Low Cost Healthcare

Primacare are committed to reducing the cost of healthcare and making it convenient for all of our customers new and existing. As part of this aim, we at Primacare have put together this little guide to help all of our customers to Lower their Healthcare costs for one or more of the steps below.

Steps

Step 1.(For all Customers) - Apply for a Primacare Loyalty Card online and this will give you up to a 20% reduction in fee.

Step 2. (For all Customers) - If you join the Primacare Membership plan you can save further by reducing your basic consultation costs for Medical, Dental, Physiotherapy to €30 per transaction. We have a number of Plans from as little as €10 per month. Plans can be paid by direct debit or in advance with a one up front payment.

Step 3. (For Customers who have existing Health Insurance with VHI, Quinn Medical, Hibernian Health\Vivas ): Our standard Consultation fee is €50, but if you would like to reduce your healthcare fees use the following steps:

1. Register you and your Family for a Primacare Loyalty Card and receive a 20% discount on the standard private Physio consultation fees of €50. Registration online is free of charge!
2. We will charge you €40 up front for the service and you will be able to recover the costs of this treatment from your medical insurance. Chartered Physiotherapy is eligible for refund with VHI, Quinn Medical, Hibernian Health (Vivas) - however we do advise you to check your policy in case of additional terms and conditions. Reimbursement rates may vary depending on your policy but up to €40 per treatment can normally be reclaimed. Please check your policy to confirm.
3. If you spend €40 on a standard physiotherapy consultation in Primacare. You will be able to reclaim up to €40 back from your health insurance making it "free". Even if your medical insurance only allows you to reclaim the base level of €20 per treatment, The remaining €20 can be subject to tax relief using the Med 1 Revenue form or by applying online. You will end up paying only €16 per visit (20% Standard rate) as tax relief is available on all Chartered Physiotherapy costs. While receipts need not be submitted with a health expenses claim, they should be retained for six years in case the claim is chosen for a more detailed examination.

Usually, health expenses refunds are processed early in the year following the relevant tax year, but it is not always necessary to wait until the end of the tax year to make a claim. For example, people who have hefty medical bills in March can choose to make their claim at that point. In cases of hardship, Revenue may grant relief during the year. However, the repayment would be allowed by means of a revised tax credit certificate and the refund would be through salary.
